You may order a driver record for a Texas driver license, commercial driver license or identification card online or by mail. The Department cannot provide in-person driver record services at any of their locations. The driving record Type 3a is the only record type that can be used for a driving safety/court ticket dismissal.
Order a Driver Record Online
The most convenient way to obtain a driver record is online. You will need the following information available to begin the online transaction:
- Your most recently issued Texas driver license, commercial driver license or identification card number, and the audit number from that card (see below on how to locate your audit number)
- Your date of birth
- Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
- Adobe Reader (Download Adobe Reader)
- The latest version of one of the following browsers*:
- Google Chrome
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Safari
- A valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) for the appropriate fee
- The ability to print or email the record immediately after purchase
*The Microsoft Edge Browser is not compatible with this service at this time. If you utilize Microsoft Edge to purchase your record, you will not be able to print. Please use one of the approved browsers listed above to complete your request.

Order a Driver Record by Mail
To order a driver record by mail, complete a driver record request form (PDF) by following the instructions on the form and submit with the appropriate payment to:
